Farm infected with foot-and-mouth

Cattle at a farm in Surrey have been found to be infected with foot-and-mouth disease.

Some 60 animals on the farm near Guildford have tested positive for the disease which wreaked havoc in 2001.

A 3km protection zone has been put in place around the premises and a UK ban imposed on movement of all livestock.

Gordon Brown has cancelled his holiday in Dorset and taken part in a meeting of the government's Cobra emergency committee by telephone about the issue.

A massive story most will remember in 2001 with horrible scenes of huge piles of infected cattle being burnt. Hopefully this'll be an isolated incident.

Urgh, we had that in Denmark back then aswell if I recall correctly. All those terrible diseases wouldn't be there if the cattle and other animals were treated well didn't practically live in their own crap >_< it's the same with pigs, we have some major things about them here now. Over half the animals die BEFORE they're slaughtered. Either they eat each other due to lack of food or else they die from diseases.

It's horrible sad.gif

Ewwww.

I really hope it's a one-off. Nobody wants a repeat of 2001, with the piles of burning animals.
